I purchased the brewers best RIS kit from my local homebrew shop and I'm thinking about tweaking it a bit; advice would be greatly appreciated. The kit came with the following ingredients:

6.6lbs dark LME
2lb Dark DME
8oz maltodextrin
8oz caramel 60L
8oz roasted barley
8oz black patent
1oz 13.5 AA columbus bittering hops
.5oz cascade aroma
i added .5oz athenum hops at flameout

I'm afraid that the stock recipe doesnt have enough hops to balance the malt, though I realize this is a heavy, malty beer. I'm considering dry hopping with another .5oz of athenum hops and also thinking about racking on top of some bourbon soaked oak chips for 2 weeks in a secondary to make things more interesting...whaddya think?
