So I'm about to bottle my Apfelwein for Thanksgiving and had a question. I have these leftover glass gallon apple juice bottles. I was thinking since I anticipate going through at least a gallon for Thanksgiving I could bottle in one of the gallon containers to save bottles. Is there any reason not to bottle in something that large other than needing to drink it all after opening?

If you're going to bottle it uncarbonated, go for it. If you're carbing, then they likely won't survive the pressure. *boom*

As long as you don't put carbed stuff in those bottles, it's fine. Put the carbed half in beer bottles or other bottles made for carbonated beverages and put the uncarbonated in your gallon jugs.
