My friends want me to brew a Sam Adams BL . was planning to brew sat but, my LHBS is out of WLP 830. They have WLP 800 pilsner yeast. Is it a good sub or, should I just order 830 and put off brew day?

Do they have WLP 833 German Bock Lager? That yeast lists Vienna Lager as one of the styles it is good for, and that is basically what Sam BL is.

Also Wyeast 2206 - Bavarian Lager and even the Oktoberfest ones are probably Ok since Vienna Lagers and Oktoberfest fall under the same "European Amber Lager" category. The Oktoberfest yeasts are WLP820 or WL 2633.

Remember lagers need a lot more yeast, so a starter is definitely recommended.
