Looks like I wont be brewing for a while :(

Some people in town have already gotten sick because they weren't boiling the water. I don't want to get any weird tastes, since the water they're getting from the bottom of the reservoir is yellowish in colour.

It's pricey, but you can buy bottled water.
Or if you are crazy, drive to a friends house in an area with good water and fill up some carboys and buckets. I say crazy because it sounds like you live far from another source of water, unless you plan on melting snow. :fro:

I schlep water home from my commute from NYC to NJ. I have 15 gallons of great NYC water rather than the nasty NJ water.

Iceberg water is always an option here. There's a guy who makes quite a bit by harvesting/selling iceberg ice.

My alternative is to buy filtered water from the store. I'm not sure if I'd have to boil that, but at least their filters should remove sediment and the chlourine.

You don't know how much water you use for cleaning until you have to boil it all first.

Some observations about living under a Boil Water Advisory:

1. Washed your hands with a cut on your hand? Prepare for diarrhea.
2. In the habit of swallowing a gulp or two of water from the showerhead while you shower? Prepare for diarrhea.
3. Used the dishes before letting them stay dry for a few hours after being washed? Prepare for diarrhea.
4. Have a cut, scrape, or popped pimple somewhere on your body and you take a shower? Prepare for diarrhea.
5. Co-workers/bosses too lazy to boil water before putting it into the water jug in the jail fridge? Prepare for EXPLOSIVE diarrhea and vomitting.

Have you ever heard the term "TMI"? :D

Seriously, that sucks. Really sucks. Be safe, and boil your water, and miss brewing for now. Hopefully it's ok now?

No, we're still boiling our water. I wish the kitchen stove could boil at least 5 gallons at a time, but i'm stuck going 1 gallon batches. My Brita filter is seeing lots of use now that i'm putting gallons of boiling water into it every week.

the last batch i bottled is gushing on me, so i'm assuming that I missed something in sanitation somewhere. I'll wait before bottling my last 5 gallons of beer.
