Best names for your beer batch?

Just bottled a chocolate peanut butter cup stout that finished at 11.2%. I call it Reese Lightening. Currently brewing a mango pale that I call Mangolorian.

Several years ago I made a strong very tasty IPA, kind of a clone of Swamp Head Big Nose IPA. My neighbor who is a hop head loved it and drank several on my back screened in lanai. When he got up to go home he walked towards the screen door but instead walked right into the screen next to the door. He laughed and corrected himself and then walked out the screen door. To this day my son still askes me if I am making "Screen Walker" IPA!

I name most after Grateful Dead songs or lyrics. On one brew day out side the wind blew hard and tons of maple seeds started spinning around and some made it into the wort boil. I named it Helicopter pale ale.

I suck at names but a few I have stuck with is from a Chinese tale called The Seven Sages of the Bamboo Groove. They were philosophers, writers and poets and evididentaly they were alcohol fueled.
So I have Seven Sages Pale Ale and Bamboo Grove Gold. I still brew an old school Pale Ale, Chinook and Casade and yes I still use Crystal. Therefore it is called "The Professor"

After last night's massive storms that rolled through I think maybe my third batch should be named Windy Wheat!

Last night we huddled up in the basement brewery, our storm safe spot, listening to the beer ferment. An almost calming affect to a tense evening.

All better this morning; lots of branches down but luckily no damage.

I like the "-ator" suffix on German dopplebocks, so I called my dopplebock "Salivator Dopplebock". I brewed 10 gallons, kegged half and bottled half. Drank the keg fast (bad idea to hit the dopplebock keg with 1 Liter mugs, take my word on that), and bottled the rest. I lost a case for a few years. It got shoved behind other stuff in the basement. When I found it after it was 2 years old, it was amazing! My favorite name though is "Tropical Mind **** Hazy IPA" but I can't take credit for that one. I always love giving beers like this to my in-laws and dropping a few f-bombs just to see their reaction!

I used to make up names for my brews but now I use the clone name eg Sierra Nevada. The exception being brews based on hops eg

Andromeda IPA with Galaxy hops
Helicopter PA with Chinook hops

I usually just call them the obvious names, either based on the name of the beer I've tried to clone or the beer style.
Smoked Black Rye IPA for example.

Only if I have a party I change the name a bit.
I haven't had any parties since before the pandemic so my beer menus are on my old laptop, but I do remember calling a clone of Innis & Gunn "Lumberjock"
because it's a Scottish beer with wood chips in it.
Another red ale I called Red Heeler as there was someone at the party who was a fan of Cattle Dogs.

I name all of my beers, its a fun game for me. Most are literary references because I’m a bit of a nerd, but its fun for me to think of names that somehow relate to the style. One of my favorites is just called 42.
