Think I have mentioned them in the past, but anyone got WoodFour updates?

Always enjoyed there stuff, but this is The Bollocks.

Great stuff.
Saw this at Whole Foods, will buy. Have you tried the Quercus Reserve Fragaria? That one looked tempting.

I'm going to be stopping here almost daily I think.
Tentatively planning to be there Jan 22, noon, if you want to join!

In fact, I’ll be up in the bay the night of Jan 21 through 25 if anybody wants to meet up. Still planning my SFBW events, but I’ve already got tickets to the Almanac Seafood dinner on the night of the 23rd.

Picked up a crowler today, it's awesome that they fill on demand as opposed to just having a few pre-canned offerings like Berryessa.

How long do crowler fills typically last? I've never had one before and was wondering if it would be good for a week to ten days.

I'm sure it'll be good for that long since it's sealed pretty firmly. I've had crowlers from Berryessa after a week or so and they're fine. Of course, once you open it you can't exactly re-seal it so there's that.

Thanks for the info! I'm going on a three week CA trip starting at the end of the month and staying at a hotel in Berkeley just a few minutes away from Fieldwork. Was planning on filling up some crowlers to take with me for the road. Finishing them in one sitting shouldn't be a problem. Cheers!

Finishing them in one sitting definitely won't be a problem! This amarilloweisse isn't gonna last past the end of the next golden globes commercial break.

How so? I get I don't post very often so I'm sorry if I messed up the flow of the thread or anything but I'm just glad I can pick up crowlers on my commute. Much better/affordable option than what's available near me most of the time. I only found out through this thread so I'm glad I saw the instagram posted.

Just the how long a Crowler last stuff. You is okay, ignore me.

Yes on how awesome it is about Crowlers. I can do this on lunch, plus I have meetings close twice a week at least.

I'm jealous you're close enough to do that. Have you tried any of the food yet? I haven't had time to grab a bite there yet but I haven't had a decent pasty in years so I'm curious how theirs are.

Not tried the pasties yet, will do soon.

First Fieldworks Crowler experience today.
This was meant to be Milky and Coconuty, instead it is Salty and Grapefruity.

This is legit better than Grapefruit Sculpin. Sea Farmer is ******* stupid good.

Wish they labelled Crowlers right, but I can forgive and drink this.

In 2009 I figured Ale Industries had a chance. I used to stop at the brewery monthly and they were good, honest and decent guys. But 7 years later you are selling this ******* swill?

****.

What is worse, beer or use of 'hella' on label??

I feel the same way, they had a cool barrel series going on there for a while that was pretty cool/interesting and an excellent coffee porter. Now, they're pretty much just a golden state of mind brewery. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The toxic levels of diacetyl in the beer.

I had a bunch of fairly decent barrel samples in 2010(?) did the Peach or Cherry or Pluot stuff ever make it?

I guess i don't really care one way or another.

It's been forever since I've had their beer, but my recollection was that their problem wasn't diacetyl. The way people perceived it was super variable, with some saying it was buttered popcorn and others saying it was completely fine, when perceptions of diacetyl didn't really vary. If you think about flaws that sometimes taste like butter but sometimes don't, I think you're left with some butyric acid derivative, which makes more sense to me.

Now this could be wrong and it could have changed, but I've always thought it was interesting about their beer.

You might well be right. The last sour of theirs I had, the fake butter was all on the finish, not in the nose, which could be butyric rather than diacetyl. It all tasted like it needed to go back to fermentation school, regardless.
