Hi all, so for the first time this year we cut down the tops of our plants from the trellis to help speed up harvest, however we didn't cut the plants at the base, so they're still alive, just without cones or a trellis.
In other words, there is 10-12 feet of bine sitting on the ground.
We just got a lot of rain and I'm trying to decide is:
1. The added reserve and growth from letting the leaves live another 2 months is offset by
2. The risk of disease from the leaves sitting on the ground, potentially leading to issue.
I know the least about the second one -- is there really a mildew risk with them on the ground, even if we're going to be in a hot/dry end of summer season? Or even if it's a small risk, how much reserves are really added post harvest?
Thanks!
