Does anyone know a pump I can use for brewing (to transfer wine/bear from primary to secondary). I was looking at aquarium pumps because they're cheap, but they need to be submersed and for the setup I'm designing for my class project, I don't think it would survive for very long and would probably contaminate the wine with something or another

Sounds like you need a food grade diaphragm pump (seen a few 12vdc ones on eBay for 35-50$) or a polystaltic pump (not sure if those ones are as cheap) either should do the job for ya though

That's a nice peristaltic pump. But it's going to take a while to move 5 to 10 gallons at the max rating for that pump of 100ml/min. I figure over 3 hours per 5 gallons. Seems excessive.

How about gravity?

If not... a peristaltic pump will work nicely as it is easy to sanitize, like: http://a.co/iJvvyRp
