Can anyone tell me what condition my beer botles have to be in?

I have just bought 7 creates of old brown beer bottles ( 3/4 Litre size)

most are in good condition, tho some look very worn on the outside, like they have been scrapping off one another.

Is it OK to use these or should I buy new ones????

nah, you should be fine. just make sure to hit your carbonation level as close as you can. but even with that i'm sure there's lenience.

You want to make sure the bottles aren't chipped, especially at the lip where it would come into contact with the cap and that they are clean on the inside, other than that you should be good to go. The outside should never touch the beer you're drinking so all the storage scratches will have no effect.

Hi there, and welcome from a fellow kiwi!
Those bottles will be sweet as (I assume you mean ABC Swappa Crates?). What you're seeing is wear marks from the bottles being reused so many times. I'd love to know how old some of the bottles out there in circulation are. They're thick and strong as, so no worries there at all. Just be careful of chips, as dantodd said. And be careful when you clean/rinse or sanitise them, because I've found it's really easy to chip the lips when you're handling them by banging them against one another.

Like others have said, the exterior of the bottles don't matter. However do inspect the lips where the caps will make the seal.

If there are chips on the lip they won't seal right and you will have some flat beer. No one likes flat beer. :(

lol

I still have a few cases of 16oz from about 20 years ago I picked up off an old homebrewer. The outsides are pitted a little from wear and environment, but they hold up just fine!
