So I tried using Bru'N Water and couldn't figure it. My house water is awful for brewing so I am switching to a local spring water company. if I post the lab report, will someone help me with it? I appreciate it.

It's a good start. I'd rather start with reverse osmosis water, which is usually cheaper and from those big "water machines" at the grocery store and a better blank canvas, but if this is what you have to work with it's ok.

It's a bit low in calcium, and a bit high in chloride to supplement the calcium with calcium chloride, but you could use a bit. For a beer where you want more sulfate, like in an IPA, you could use gypsum to bring up the calcium and the sulfate.
 
Thats spring water I can get from a local place for 15 cents a gallon. There is no option for RO. This is my best and only option. I tried using bru'n water but couldnt figure it out.
 
Did I miss it, or is your water report missing alkalinity and/or bicarbonate? Without at least one of those values I doubt that you can use Bru'n Water properly, since it demands that you input bicarbonate.

Bicarbonate ~= Alkalinity / 0.82
 
If you are having trouble with Bru'nwater, contact Martin. He is readily available here and by email. But the advice above is good too. If your house water truly sucks, go RO and build up, or go with spring water if that's what's available.

I don t have RO option, this spring water is the best and most effective option I've got. do you know martin's username?
 
I'm still not seeing alkalinity.

To get that you sum up all the reported cation charges and subtract all the reported anion charges. The difference is the sum of the unreported anions and we assume that bicarbonate is predominant among those. Under that assumption the alkalinity is the difference in mEq/L. Multiply by 50 for ppm as CaCO3.
 
Try the EZ water calculator. It's much more user friendly than BruNwater by far IMO.
 
Do you have a way to get distilled water?.

I have not ordered a water test for my well but will add salts to the distilled water to build my desired profile using Bru N Water.

Just another option.

distilled water is way too expensive when you need 8 gallons of it. thats what I used to use when I did partial mash.
