I am new to homebrewing with only 3 kits brewed so far. Am also new to drinking ales and lagers and other types of craft beers. I guess I'm the tyipcal BMC burnout, totally got burned out on the typical american beers and quit drinking beer for a while. With my new found interest in hombrewing I have tried roughly 75 different commercially available craft beers. Both my wife and I have not gotten taken by the hop thing "yet" and every trip to our local well stocked store we grab something we haven't tried yat and a 6 pack of Pete's wicked ale...kind of our run to session beer.......so I started my internet search for a clone, and surprisingly didn't find very many...I did settle on this one..

and with the help of a friend homebrewer we came up with this at Brewmasters warehouse..I just modified this recipe 8/6 5:40 pm

Any opinions from those with experience as to what this may turn out like. I'm also not sure if the first link I posted is for the original Pete's or the supposed different "newer" version..the newer obviously being what we would like.
Thanks in advance..

Boy, I haven't had a Pete's in years. I can't even recall what it tasted like for sure. Anyway, I'm sure it'll be good. That recipe looks tasty even if it's not a true Pete's clone.

Thanks for the bump "Deepsouth"
Yooper, I appreciate your comments, I've got another week till my primary is freed up, I think I will order it as shown..Thanks

This info is straight from Pete's Wicked website:

INGREDIENTS
MALTS: Pale and Caramel
HOPS: Cascade and Brewers Gold
BREWING SPECIFICATIONS
ALCOHOL BY VOLUME: 5.3%
CALORIE CONTENT: 174
CARBOHYDRATES: 17.7 G
ORIGINAL GRAVITY: 13.65 Degrees Plato
RDF: 60.1% W/W
IBU: 18

Your gravity is right where it should be, I would say you picked the right yeast for the job, though your IBUs might be a bit high (it does depend on the calculation method though).

I don't smell any cascade in Pete's, only the Brewer's Gold, which makes me wonder if they use the Cascade for bittering (probably cheap).

I attempted a Pete's clone when I first started brewing, came out NOTHING like it but oh well... still a decent beer.

Thanks so much...I checked their website a little while back and it would only give a breief description of the flavors, certainly not the details you just posted and it also said something about a new website in the making...I can lower the IBU by decreasing the hop amounts or times but I'm already below the first link I posted...would you recommend lowering it more?

Thanks again.

drop a half ounce of those 60 minute hops to like 10 (i think we moved the rest to flameout, no?). that will get your ibu's down some.

I just used the calculator and lowered the 60 min to .5 oz, changed the next to 1oz at 5 mins, flameout is still .75 with .5 dry hop....this configuration yields a IBU of 20.6

As soon as I free up my primary I'll place my order. I did find a Pete's clone on midwestsupplies.com But I think I'm gonna order this one from brewmaster.
Thanks for the reply.
