Hey everybody.

I picked up some PBW and like a moron figured it would make sense to soak some in my aluminum brew kettle (for about 30 minutes) to make sure it was super clean. Afterwards, the bottom of the pot appeared to be pretty scorched...

I did some research and obviously I was not supposed to do this. Now I'm wondering if this pot is even safe to use. Does anybody have some experience with this? I'd prefer not to die after drinking my next batch. I've attached a picture and would love any and all input.

You could clean it up with Barkeepers Friend then boil some water in it to passivate. Less chance of stuff sticking to the bottom in the future if there is no build up. You are not going to die though.

Scrub it out with some dish soap then rinse well. Then boil a pot of water for about 30 minutes. This will build an oxidation layer on the surface which will keep you from getting any metallic taste from the pot.

Clean it off good with baking soda and elbow grease, then boil water in it to rebuild the oxidation.

I did that ONCE. :) everything worked out fine though but I know how u felt cu

I learned that way too. Never used PBW on Al. It will take a lot of scrubbing, but it will come off.....eventually
