Hi I'm bottling a wit today and also crushing apples, any one ever used the cake from a beer and dumped the cider on top

Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

Yes, but I didn't use the entire yeast cake. I also used apple juice instead of pressed apples, so my gravity was pretty easy to predict based on the nutrition label on the juice. I'm not sure if that is the case with pressed apples, you probably know better than I. Basically I made my cider to roughly the same gravity as the beer, dumped out about 3/4 of the yeast cake, and then used the rest of the yeast cake for the cider. Worked fine for me.
