Hi All,
(Skip to paragraph 3 if you don't want to read the blurb)....
I bought a font kit from Keg King due to a broken rear seal tap so ended up moving to a three tap font and they convinced me to buy their ABS forward seal taps. The Keg King guy told me you cant tell the difference in appearance which for everyone's info is just not true. I think you probably all know that by now though but they look plastic and have an obvious moulding mark right down the middle of them. Aside from this however I am really having pouring problems with them....
My old rear seal taps poured fine at the same pressures I am using which is typically around 10-12psi with about 4 meters of 5mm ID hose. Sometimes I drop the pressure to 8-9 for pouring (currently getting a second regulator to run two pressures).
My problem is the plastic taps spurt the beer out in like a tubular flow, I often have to flick the taps on and off to get a good laminar flow by which time I have a glass of air. To avoid it altogether I have to drop the pressure to around 5psi which I don't want to be doing.
Is this behaviour typical for forward seal taps? I am looking at getting Perlicks and as much as I know they are superior are they still going to give me this problem? See pic.
