This forum is great. I'm secretly hoping to avoid some of the issues I just read about in the other threads...

Welcome to the board, and to your new addiction. Just sanitize your equipment and keep your fermentation temps in check and all will be well.

Cheers:mug:

I have been scouting through alot of posts on here, just gives me so many questions. Bottles vs keg system, is my house going to smell, is anything going to explode, will my girlfriends younger brother be afraid to drink my homebrew considering he drinks all of my other beer...

You know Oswego? I used to own a bar here but sold it and got a career. Big mistake. Anyway, love the Jay area, I'm a 46er, spend quite a bit of time up there. Enjoying an Ubu right now.

your house will not smell, if you start All Grain you will get some smell but it's a sweet sugar smell that goes away fast. i have never had a smell from fermenting my beer. as for exploding just watch your sugar when bottling and make sure your beer has finished use your hydrometer( then drink your sample). don't tell him just pour it and hand it over :)

Oswego! I was born in Syracuse, my Granpda still lives there...love the lake, remember fishing the river and lake when I was a kid...good times.

I am on my 2nd brew with Extract kits, so far it really is just make sure everything is sanitized...follow some directions, not too bad.

My malt is boiling right now. Everything is sterile(I hope) and it's going better than planned. Even my dog is excited, I can't wait to taste this sweet goodness.
