Hello everyone,
Checking in from just outside of Washington DC. I'm lurking around the forums as I think about getting back into brewing. I've dabbled a little in BIAB and have owned now several devices that have all become bricks. I've currently living in a smallish condo without a garage so I'm also looking for others that are brewing smaller batches and how they get on.

Welcome to the forum from a Texas Brewer. I grew up not too far from you (Baltimore County). What size batches do you brew? Do you have a deck on your condo? If so you could brew like I do.

I was a pretty regularly doing 5 gallon batches when friends were closer and had less kids, a little before and during COVID I switched to mostly 1 gallon batches. I slowed down to only a couple BIAB brews and had a Beermkr until they went out of business. I do have a smallish deck, maybe 4'x8' I've never really measured it.

You could do 5 gallon all grain but you would need at least a 10 gallon kettle (15 is better), on the deck on a propane burner if they let you do that on the deck. And a cooler for your pre heated sparge water. I did 5 gallon extract batches with a mini mash on the kitchen stove but I had to move out to the back porch for 7 gallon batches of all grain using a 16 gallon kettle. The kitchen stove would'nt heat that quickly, it took forever.
