Do you have some kind of template/photo you are going off of, or are you really good at getting the coloring and detail right? I'm impressed with your work, unless it's some kind of paint by numbers deal. In that case, you're a cheater.

No. I wanted a dark red cloak on these guys, so I went in first with a black base coat. Then I mix up a dark red color and layer and layer and layer glazes over the high points, and drag it into the low points to create a gradient.

The paint is about the consistency of skim milk and dries semi transparent, the more layers, the richer the color. Then I go back through with a lighter shade of red, and layer the high points again.

The skulls were based in white and glazed with a brown. It's time consuming, but it looks good (good enough for my gaming table, anyway). Thanks for the compliment.

Also, there's a hint for you in this pic. ;)

You can see here where my glazing on the grey skin for these guys was not so good (paint too dry) and ends up looking chalky. I'm super happy with these guys if not for that. I'll be fixing it later when I paint all the bases.

Home roast, hit about 15 garage sales this AM. Picked up a commercial fridge for ten bucks. It's either my germ chamber of the garage fridge. Hoping for the former, I just have to try to take out the ice maker. Found some glassware too.

Now at the Dr. With the oldest. Might have the flu. Damn this week, aside from the ten dollar fridge.

I like this hint.

I think the chalky aspect of the paint kind of makes them look dusty, like they were in battle.

We were going to go skiing today, but everyone is feeling lazy. So instead of more coffee, I started drinking beer at 10:45.

Also, just got a sweet box from @ThatJonGuy. Today is turning out to be a pretty good day.

Glad it made. Completely forgot to put something in there.

Guess I'll have to send more down.

Showed my youngest son your work. He asked if you play a game called War Hammer.

Mashing out next stout attempt. Worked hard on water chemistry and thanks to many on this thread/HBT if it works out...if not, everyone is dead to me!😉 The special ingredient, something missing in my brews, is patience!

Having @TobyG HB. Chocolate, bourbon..super good! Thank you Sir!

I don't, because I don't have 1-2k to spend on miniatures... That's a mid-range figure, btw.

However, if he needs any painted, I'd gladly do it for the experience.

Drinking one of the wife's Hard Lemonaides. Wanted something light and sweet. Almost time for the kids nap. Then I can actually get stuff done, like eating something.

The LHBS dudes took the base hard Lemonaid recipe and made a 10%er. No alcohol detected..awesome stuff.
