************shi. probably fired worse than 1977brewdude. ****. Back in Dec quoted a package. Just got hte PO for it. I quoted it at our cost. Forgot to mark it up. $25000 item too. God damnit.

Pity will not win you the 20k contest.

lol yea man...complete package? Id ask for an accommodation cost from the factory for zero net commission, treat it as a buy/sell and keep the difference to the company. Boom, done. (Can you tell how often I've done the same thing?)

Ouch. Look on the bright side...could have quoted for less than your cost.

What's going to really suck is when that customer comes back to buy again and is pissed by the 25% inflationary increase.

Honestly, though, can you go to the buyer and work something out? They probably quoted their job using your number, with a normal markup % to get the job, though.

Damn it. I just realized that I have an after work event tonight until 7:00pm. It is at a place with a great craft beer selection...but I just bought a used guitar at lunch and am itching to get it home...

Hoping the meeting with the boss goes as well as possible. There can be a lot said for being the one to own up to your screwup. It has saved my butt before.

Alright boss was fine with it. Said I have to do all quotes from now on in our software and not email (our software is a pain in the dick to put any level of detail in) to be more thorough though. Now to talk to salesman and say sorry you wont get any comission on this one, and tell your customer in the future it's 30% more lol.

In addition to my law practice, I am the finance guy at a manufacturing business. I find it amazing that buyers are so clueless as to why prices go up. "But I bought that just two months ago for 15% less than you are charging me now!!!"

Yeah, but two months ago, you bought 100 of them and now you're buying 2...

That sucks, but glad the boss took it well. I thought most of the pump quotes I got were only valid for like 30 days.

Could be worse. Glad it worked out ok for you. Sorry about the pain in the dick.

Off topic: coffee.

We do that to get the better cost. It doesn't cost anything to run it up the flagpole, and if I can retain pricing, good on me.

Usually I'll go in like, yeah... Need those two for a project but need you to hold pricing for future orders as we don't see this line going away blah blah blah.

Works most of the time, well the first time anyway. Do it again and they aren't so happy to dicker with you any more.

As buyers, we pretty much have to try... Most of us aren't stupid, just trying to save a buck.

Haha...yeah, I didn't mean that to be insulting. I guess I should have said that they must thing WE are stupid.

The guys who really get me are the guys who want a breakdown of our cost of labor v material v outside processing v margin. Yeah, I'm going to disclose that to you because I was born yesterday?

Yeah we could easily back out of this, say it's not valid anymore, from last year etc. ****s over your relationship with the customer though. No choice but to eat it. I sent it to the RSM to see what he wants to do. In my mind we tell customer what happened, show good faith by giving it away to him and hope he orders more at the proper 30% GM.

What if the lucky winner isn't on the exchange list? Default to the next post? I'll be damned if I gotta give my bunch of beers to a nonfriendly
