What werent you liking about it at first? For me it was love at first taste.

Nothing I didn't like about it but I think it's like any new style, your palate needs to explore it some each time. Perhaps I'm just taking through my arse. Just drinking beer, savoring beer, thinking about beer. Man I love beer.

@Gavbro, drinking an Alt right now. It's OK. A bit sweet for my tastes. Not sure if its the style or this particular brew... think this is only my 2nd Alt ever.

Should not be much residual sweetness to it. Typical FG is 1.01 give or take a point or two. Like most German styles there is not much wiggle room. God forbid your drinking a not-to-style Alt. I've never had any other than my own so what the flock do I know I suppose.

I put in plenty of science. Gypsum, Calcium Chloride and Campden, Acidulated malt. That's four sciences. I also have 200 billions of yeasties to throw in there later. I'm not decocting though so it'll probably suck. I did inline mash it though. I might go extreme and cut the brewday down to just a few minutes.

Without an inline decoction it would have sucked. Nice save cutting the brewday down to 300seconds. That should un-suck it a bit. Did you use your great well-water?

I've never had a regular modelo. Just the ***** version.

Edit: negra, lol.

I'm in the "forever brewday" crowd. As long as the weather holds I guess.

Brodelo time Bro Strummers.

How's brew day going. Went out my back garden and couldn't smell anything malty in the West from here. Weatherford must be further than I thought although I am feeling rather stuffy-nosed today so that's probably another explanation.

Time for another DEM.

Bringing mine up to a boil now. No sparge, ended up 45 or 50 mins or so mash. Not quite 79 min brew day but I'm too lazy for that anways. Time for a Citrus Mistress.

Did some shopping today. My local bottle shop had 2015 Darkness and 2015 BCBS and a bottle of Rye Abyss on the shelf. Same place I found a bottle of BA 2015 Darkness just sitting out last week. I've been lucky recently!

Nice score.

Dog's still scared of either brewing or the garage and is making me brew alone. *******. 'least I got you nerds err, delinquents with mohawks.

Boil's done. Into the water bath until ice time. I gotta go grocery shopping and run the oldest to the inlaw's.

Wind's out of the north. If I was close at all you would have smelled this monster.

PS, DME is delicious. I figured it would be.

Electricty, lights and wires added to the beer. That's science I cannot fathom. Just a touch jealous, truth be told.

Can't you lie to the dag and tell him your doing something else. He's young, can't be too hard to bamboozle. Tell him your practicing for a play and need the props.

Finally done with the scout outing.

Daughter asked for spaghetti tonight so sauce has been simmering for an hour or so, no bottled sauce in this house.

Got a call from my friend whom owns the bottleshop telling me that we had gotten a case of Big Ricc in by "accident", it is over our legal limit. So I swung by and picked some up.

Yep. Always lick the spoon after I make a starter. If my eldest is not around to get it first.

Going to tackle a big stout soon. Keep bumping a planned stout for other chit.

Had a BP Dorado earlier. Dumped most of it. What a disappointment. I picked up a single of the Watermelon Dorado, hope that's better. If not I have a Pure Hoppiness in the wings on standby to save me if needed.

I've yet to try any BP beers. Seems folks have a love or hate view of them. Probably should give one a try one of these days.

It's true, I am one with the science.

Not even dried beef livers were enough to convince him to come into the garage.
