I finally get my hands on a pint. I went with Guinness, since I'll be making my own version next weekend. SWMBO and I have also come up with a plan for the evening: beers, shower-beers, PJs, glazed salmon on a bed of rice with steamed broccoli, and some TV. This is the effing life.

There's something wrong with your Guinness...

So what you're saying is these dudes are hombrewers? Except they get paid? Floccers!

Where'd everyone go?

Andrew definitely has a tendency to experiment. Ghost has always had some batch to batch variation due to that (he's only made 8 batches in the 2 years he's made it). He also just completely revamped Envie to be more like a baby version of Ghost, so he's still playing around with it. Their bread and butter beer is Canebrake, so that's where their consistency efforts are devoted.

Drinking the same again tonight, except sequentially instead of side by side. Shared the Untappd check-in on Facebook and started a mini-firestorm. Even wound up drawing Andrew into a water discussion. lol

Props to the guy for trying new things. However, beer is one of the most studied beverages in the history of humankind, and if there were better ways to do things, the brewing science literature would already reflect them. Homebrewers can get away with trying new things (like no-chill or BIAB) that aren't feasible for pros, but ultimately pros do things the way they do because solid science (and not backyard science) has proven them to be the most effective. I will never so easily disregard accepted practice as he does.

To be totally fair, it's not a new thing, but an old thing. Apparently the belief is that prior to metal pots and hops being widely available, wort was heated with hot stones. Since that was a PITA to boil water with, the majority of beers must therefore have been "no boil" gruits.

Not trying to start a debate especially here. I think the main problem was that his way of approaching criticism and aversion to researching his terms was...fun

You new here?:D

I don't pose. I was legitimately bored. here's one of me legitimately asleep in a bar with a bottle balanced on my head.

Asleep, passed out, tomato, alcohol poisoning.

Having this while waiting to go out tonight. They should of called the brewery butt licking creek lol

.....

First one from them. Its heavy on the rosemary but not bad. Needs to dial that nack and itll be tastey. I got this one from patrick.

Say what? I WAS gonna offer to replace it if you didn't really like it. their stouts are pretty good, when they are in stock. Thought it was a good trade for Vulgar Affliction.

SOJA is not Jamaican oldies. A pox on that new school dancehall sh***, and on woodpile daydrinking smackedness.

I can't smell anything but fish. This stuff is nasty. Can't say I wasn't forewarned. But it should be far more effective at clearing my casks than the premixed stuff was. And it's mixing far easier than I expected.

Aaaand, you can clear 5,000,000,001 batches on one pack of dried guts!

Gotta event at my daughter's school to go to. Pre-gaming
Yes. Vodka with a strawberry, didn't have a lemon or orange in the house.

Appropriate background item. :D

The retirement book, or the #1 dad cup?

Setting up the bookcase in the boy's room finally. First bourbon was okay neat. Not a fan of the new rye. Love child #6 right now, kinda meh. Need to get more for the 4, 5, 6 vertical the @hawgwilde81 set me up for.

JFC how many people on this thread used to have mohawks? All of us except for the few nerd/non-delinquents who've already said as much?

Never had a mohawk. Did do a spiked buzzcut at one point, and also had what could be considered a very wide mohawk, but never styled as such (basically really long hair with the sides shaved).

You guys can pick on the goth pic all you want. It was To get a goth girl. Mission was well accomplished. And I'd do it again ten times over.

Loving this. Last one.

At list you didn't look quite as ummm edgy as this guy. He did it for the nookie, and from the looks of it the cookie.

Pepermint Victory At Sea.

Pretty darn good. Would be a great beer to cook with; brownies, dark chocolate cookies, etc.

As SWMBO said, maybe Christmas in a bottle?
