What was the cost difference to go tankless? I need to replace ours with a newer model sometime this year so we can rip out an old chimney.

Been contemplating tankless also. I'm sure my 10 year water heater is due to fail soon as its now 16 years old.

Any issues with running out when showers, washing machine and dish washer are all going at the same time?

We have (had, it is currently not running) the dishwasher start to run ~12:00am and the washing machine is used during the day and late afternoon. We do run both showers at the same time without issue.

What you can do is figure up the GPM used by each device and then get the right sized unit. We have a 4GPM, or pretty close, and have never ran into an issue with not having hot water.

Losing a kid is brutal. All I can offer is my condolences.
