I bought this barley crusher used 2.5 years ago and never had trouble with it though, so i cant complain too much. Why would it do this now though?!?!!!!! BW missed the mark for me, but CS was tangy. It's hard for me to imagine a really tangy coffee, but I'm a bit of a coffee noob

Rwanda coffee is almost tea like and dies have bright lime flavors with vanilla, dunno if I'd call it tangy though

After a while I had to fully disassemble (rollers and all) my Barley Crusher and fully clean the thing. The passive roller has probably seized. Take it apart, clean it, and it should be good to go. Maybe a tiny bit of olive oil or other appropriate lubricant.

Rye Not is a citra rye saison, lots of citra in a hopstand and dryhop as well. Really good still being this old.

After a while I had to fully disassemble (rollers and all) my Barley Crusher and fully clean the thing. The passive roller has probably seized. Take it apart, clean it, and it should be good to go. Maybe a tiny bit of olive oil or other appropriate lubricant.

The passive roller was still turning strangely enough. Both of them were moving fine, the active roller just wasnt grabbing the grain at all. I cleaned it off with compressed air and it worked for the next five lbs, then went in and out after that. Got through the first half of the grain after an hour, but I think the mill is shot. The gap is set correctly and the crush hasnt changed. Everything moves fine, the grip on the roller just isnt there anymore.

It's a great brew. The rum aroma is insane and kind of takes over the beer, but there is not a big booze taste to it. Light roast and coffee notes. The viscosity is silky, smooth and on point.

Seriously. I thought the same thing. Are you watching both rollers turn?

Take the whole thing apart, and clean it. I was about to smash mine, had the EXACT same problem. And then after thorough cleaning it worked fine again, and has since. I'm not sure how many batches you've put through yours or how you clean it in between, but it's probably on par with how many I put through mine, and while I didn't fully break it down every time, I always brushed out dust really well followed by compressed air. Eventually it wasn't enough.

Check the mill gap. Most of em come either not set right, or set too loose. Use feeler gauges. If you don't have some, you can get em for a couple bucks at an auto supply store.
