French press. Doctor appointment later to check out this lump on my back. If he removes it I'll snap a pic and show yall.

Best of luck - even if it is harmless never good to get cut.

Nah. A friend got one from work, so he offered me his which was brand new. Turned it down and gave him contact info for someone I know that is in dire need of a new phone and is broke. etc. @wesleys

Back on topic... hey guys, I brewed my smoked porter and pitched last Sunday, but the airlock isn't bubbling?

I looked through the hole and saw krausen, but I'm just worried that it isn't fermenting.

Thoughts?

Thought about using gorilla glue to attach the lid and make it air-tight, would that be feasible?

And me. Apparently I don't either. I can certainly plan on it, but it never happens. Maybe I buy bulk stock with tax moneys. And a spare propane tank. And a week off. Get a pipeline.

Or like, brew a batch of damn mild in my damn kitchen.

The seals on buckets get loose very quickly. I'm sure the CO2 is just leaking out instead of going through the airlock. RDWHAHB :mug:

I've had ingredients for a stout for a while now. I just drink enough on Friday to short-circuit my brain and forget about the week, and end up not giving a funk the rest of the weekend. Might be different once I start getting home and it's still light out. Oh, the bottling doesn't help. Big turn off. I miss having a beer fridge to put kegs in.

Slowly push on the lid. If the airlock isnt bubbling then there is a leak some where. You can put keg lube (not KY) on the rim to seal it back up.

  • Climb to the top of your ladder with bucket of beer in hand
  • Rip off lid
  • Pour beer carefully from on high into your unwashed and hated carboy
  • Pop an airlock on
  • Bubbles will ensue

Problem solved. You're welcome.

Is this a serious question

I thought KY was food grade since... Never mind

I thought hot-side aeration was a bad thing?

I'm fermenting at 85°... is that considered hot?

I'd bump the heat up some more that way you can be sure that no problems develop following the patented laderomatic racking system.

Aight... I just figured if I fermented US04 at rehydration temps that it would finish stronger.

You're still pumping smoke through it, right?

When I transfer to secondary, I'm going to rack on 4 oz of Liquid Hickory Smoke... hopefully that will be enough to give it a subtle smoke flavor.

this thread is really starting to negatively impact my ability to communicate with my coworkers in a fashion that isnt layered under meta/sarcastic nonsense

Had a meeting the other day and they were talking about vacuum dehydrators and how to decrease the water content in air systems and produce drier air to the tools.

Asked if they had tried mashing lower.

No one laughed.

Ooh, I like it. I shall also start blaming this thread every time I'm snarky to my coworkers. :goat:
