What's the longest you knuckleheads have ever waited to reciprocate a trade. I just looked for address of people I owe beer to and realize that they sent me beer in March/April of last year and I'm just now getting ready to ship back.

Yeah, I suck at trades.

Wow. Maybe a couple weeks, but trading partner was aware and OK with it (forget exactly what it was that held it up, but it was a release that I was waiting to add into the box).

Was never a huge fan of the show. I watched it but not an avid fan. Never really won over by all the surfing vernacular. Always felt Leonardo and Donatello were carrying a lot of dead weight.

This was a great show. More my bag. Anyone else watch it?

Ulysses 31. Greek mythology and space. Ding dind ding!

I remember it. But don't remember if I ever really watched it.

#workplacerant.

We've got some very important um.. positions here.. with people that hold insane degrees, and ask the same questions every day. Did they learn so much they can no longer retain trivial information? I think not.

ex.

Them - "Do we have a drawing of a monkey riding a unicorn? I can't find one."
Me - "Yes. What did you search?"
Them - "I typed in donkey racing a turtle."
Me - "Type monkey and hit enter."
Them - "Oh there it is."

Just ordered a 70qt Coleman Xtreme cooler to convert into a mash tun. Already have a bazooka screen for it; might pick up a sheet of perforated aluminum to also make a false bottom. Also going to be ordering a barley crusher later today.

You really don't need both. Bazooka by itself works fine.

I haven't brewed in almost 3 months, who's lazy now? :ban:

Wait, that's not a good thing...carry on. :(

I got one more barrel to fill. I need to brew soon as always. Need to get a few sacks of grain to make it cheaper over all. I have a lot just sitting and waiting till they are ready. I always want to brew but need to kick a few off the kegger to make room. Today I'm thinking of getting some whiskey and rinse the barrel to get some flavor still in there but I'm not sure I want to do that.

This is the same that I bought for my MT. I decided to go with the bazooka screen.

If anyone has Julius and wants Pliny, I am looking for a 1-1 trade. We can throw in some local stuff to make it a box if you'd like.

Coffee. First time since Friday that I actually feel OK. Now the wife has the stomach bug I had. Really over getting sick this winter.

Started looking into going back to school, community college for a little while, already have plenty of student loans pay off. Looked at the local law school and about fell out of my chair, $78K for 3 years.

I'd be living so comfortably if I had made quicker decisions out of high school. Not realizing how much loans would impact my future is the biggest mistake I've ever made. The most I learned was from a cheap community college. It was quick. No bull****, to the point.

Getting ass beat at work today. Its nice to have time pass without noticing or having to harass you guys constantly.

.

Exact same setup I have. Works good but I'd like a 10 gallon igloo with false bottom for normal sized grain beds too. I dont like all the head space on normal 5 gallon batches.

Coffee. Got the window open at the office, pretty nice out right now. It says its 34 but I call BS.

I almost have the same setup... Except it's just a pot and a huge bag.

Similar though.

Good stuff. I'm switching from 5gal partial mash batches to 10gal all-grain; upgrading all my gear as a result. Now I just need to pick up 50' of copper tubing for a DIY wort chiller and a valve/fittings for the new MT, and I'm good to go. Already have a 20gal SS kettle, blichmann burner, carboys etc.

Just ordered a 1/2hp (1800gph) submersible pump off amazon as well, so I should be in good shape for chilling the wort quickly.

That's all? I paid more than that 12-15 years ago!!

But to me, you have to look at the cost differently than that. I don't know what sort of terms they are giving when you lock in the rate on those things nowadays, but I graduated with $100,000+ of student loan debt...all from law school. But I only pay about $280 per month on those loans. That is $3,400 per year. I'm fairly certain that I make more than $3,400 per year off of my degree, versus not having it. And if I croak, the debt is extinguished. All in all, I think it was worth the cost.

I pay the same or close to it on 3 different loans because I couldn't make up my mind. It's painful.
Finally have a minute to take a quick break for lunch, so I'll take 10 for a salad and get back to it.
Hope everyone have a better day than I am.

Definitely do a whiskey rinse. And definitely send that whiskey to me.

You actually have work to complete today?

When I first got my barrels, I put over a liter and a half of Bullet rye whiskey in one for a week, then transferred that to the other barrel for a week before racking into it. You know how much I was able to get back out of it? 3oz!

On behalf of this thread, thanks for that sacrifice towards sending all of us great beer.

When you do this rinse do you rotate/shake the barrels every so often to evenly coat the interior?

Any cheap whiskey will do?

If I remember right from some of the distillery tours I've been on, they say they can lose up to 1/3 of the bourbon from fill volume to the angel's share, so sounds about right.
