Rippled Nipple Goblet

Honestly though, I did at least a 10 minute google search (equates to ~90 hrs pouring over old books in some deserted library) and couldn't come up with a name for it.

I think it's just a cheap knock off of the real Spiegelau IPA glasses.

Sponge candy is really good. I just don't eat sweets. We used to hit Captain and Coke so hard that after one Super Bowl party, I could no longer physically stomach soda or candy. Never looked back.

Interesting, I've heard of people swearing off the alcohol after one really bad night, but never the mixer.

**** you.

I don't even know the name of that type of glass. But I do know that it was $2.99 at World Market.

I believe in the industry its called a 'mistake' or sometimes even 'abomination' has come up from time to time. The base design makes sense, but having it blossom outwards instead of inward, retaining the aromas and helping head retention. They almost had it there :ban:

:edit: you were right, they were an attempt at a knock off but they tried to steer away from the basis of design and not be dragged to court for patent infringement.

Actually, looks like it's a Libbey "hard cider glass."

TBH, can't tell a difference between this and my snifter... but the beer is never in the glass long enough to 'let the aromas escape' completely.

And to that end, wouldn't it be better to drink IPAs straight from the can or bottle for maximum aroma retention?

I'm fine with it. If I have captain now I can only really mix a rocks glass. After that it's straight or nothing.

I like Rippled Nipple Goblet better than your logical explanation.

Actually, check out this glass blower on etsy
https://www.etsy.com/shop/PretentiousBeerGlass
similar designs in hand blown glass are upwards of 105.00 a pair. Crazy. Love the name, too lol

WOO! Just got word form the bottle shop owner that the Abyss is in finally. :D

There goes my paycheck...

Conveniently a day after you ship my box. ;)

jk

Why does everyone and their brother have to put a god damned mustache on everything?

I was in until I saw those.

Are you a self-hating mustache-wearer?

Yes and no...you wouldn't be getting the maximum from a bottle. A can, do a degree would work, but your aren't getting the most from it. A bunch of the aroma and head comes from the release of co2 in the form of carbonation. There is a laser etching on the bottom of most of the 'higher end' glasses that release the carb. Doing so would unlock the aroma from the hops. A lot of that would get locked in straight from a bottle or can. The bell shape on the top focuses that to remain in the glass and increase the smell sensory receptors.

Yeah. I know.

I think I'll just carb my IPAs to like 5 vol now... that way you just get the stinkiest glass of hop foam imaginable.

Drinking IPAs is overrated anyway.

Haha... shelf turds around here.

Rows upon rows.

They last for about a week or two here, tops.

Conveniently a day after you ship my box. ;)

It was very strategic. :D

It actually hasnt been dropped off yet but I seriously couldnt fit another bottle in there if I tried. The ones in there already barely fit.

Better to drink it this way to truly capture the aromas

It's already come and gone here.

Water while waiting for my last miserable conference call of the day to end.

I hear you!

Big stout. It's quite good.

You can get it in Tx. Im sure there's places in Dallas, but when I lived on the other side I'd get it from Hall's off 121 and.. Glisan I think?

Thanks iijakii

I googled that but cant open any beer related websites at work. HBT and a couple of others were given a special dispensation.

Looks like a one and done sort of beer for me. I need to broaden my beer horizons so will look for it in Specs this weekend.

Whats the price up there? I was just told its $15 which I think is normal. I hate beer prices!!

I usually see it for $15.99.

I would wager that I could walk into one of the shops over here and find 2014s.

It's between $16-17 here. It used to be hard to get, but now I see cases of it. One of the rare occurrences where a beer is now easier to get. I wonder if some of the love for it has dropped off since a few years ago. There's a lot of big barrel aged beers out there to choose from.

yea, it was like 29.00 here in the city, on the outskirts I'm told it was far cheaper. What's really sad? Sold out within minutes at all of my normal shops
