Dragon Paw Berliner from Hourglass. Is $30 for a pitcher of Stille Nacht a fair price?

Paid $6/bottle in 2014 for 2012's. What year is it? Had a fresh one with a friend, and it wasn't nearly as good as one with 2-3 years on it.

Yea, I still have 2 root beers out of a 6 and I gave 2 away;)

So you're saying you subjected yourself to a second bottle after having the first?

I'm way too lazy to oxygenate. I splash and dump. I've never once had FG issues so I'll keep doin that.

This is the laziest way to oxygenate.

Is it "better"? Don't know.

Is it a lazier approach? I reckon it is.

Another tube to sanitize? Having to go to the store and buy O2 tanks? I think you underestimate just how lazy I am.

But seriously, tell me of your process and how long you run it for, how much the tank costs and how many batches it lasts?

The novelty has worn off; now I'm just trying to get rid of these things.

I tried one NYFRB given me by my neighbor. I like root beer and I like beer. I hated it. It's the only alcolholic beverage I've ever chucked down the sink. Don't see the attraction. Definitely going to start a rant thread one of these days.

That's pretty interesting to hear, thanks for that link. Like he mentioned, most home brewing literature that speaks about mashing says that it does have an effect to do the maltose production variations.

The Braukaiser's site is a fabulous trove of brewing info. The guy is a legend to have put it together. Worth exploring his blog some, I reckon.

I need to get on more sites like his, I just dont for whatever reason. I seem to not research stuff until I need an answer. I should just start reading that bog for fun though, I imagine I would learn a lot!

I have no clue haha I imagine once it's dissolved into solution it's there until the yeast consume it. I'll let you know for sure once I get through that lesson.

That being said though, just aerating like that wont give sufficient oxygen for prime yeast growth. Pure oxygen is really the only way to get up to the recommended dissolved amount. So, buy that stone. :D

^^^. He's right. Again. [emoji6]

I do too. And ginger ale. But I can't get into these alcopops. I don't know if it's just the combination of the root beer/ginger ale base with ethanol or if they're adding something wonky to these particular drinks, but something's "off".

I run it for ~45-120 seconds (depending on OG). I used to count number of batches per tank, but it lasts longer than I thought (15-20 or more batches). The tanks run me about $10, but I usually get it for free when I get a $10 off coupon from Ace Hardware (when I'm buying other stuff there anyways).

Anyways, less than $1 of O2 per batch is less than $0.02/beer.

I like the results i get using pure O2 than my old method of pouring back and forth between two buckets.

Your wasting O2, get it till it breaks the surface, then stir with the wand, the reason I like it so much, you can see the bubbles coming out of the stone but not breaking the surface, dissolved into the wort.
I get a lot of batches out of a tank.
