Bummer. I'll let you know if I snag more next batch.

Curious about that one... is the hop flavor/aroma still strong there?

I'm wondering how long it ages in the barrel and whether they re-hop somehow?

Don't feel like googling.

Community makes a BA IPA that is definitely not improved by aging. Much prefer the regular.

Not every beer needs to be barrel aged. In fact, I'd say most of them don't. We're gonna run out of oak!

I did a hoppy mosaic saison once... ended up turning into the driest IPA I've ever had in my life. It was ok, but too much on the hops and you lose all that yeast character.

You're either Mosaicing and/or Saisoning wrong.

Yeah, I mentioned as much.

Too much hop in the boil. IBU was too high, killed the yeast flavor.

Of course, I brew more than once a year, so I was able to correct that issue on the next batch fairly quickly.

It doesn't say barrel per se, just aged on white oak. It mutes the hop aroma somewhat, but I like the beer as a beer in and of itself. I'm not much of a hop snob, though.

Cool, was just curious really. IMO, 'aged' and 'IPA' hardly belong in the same sentence, which is why I asked about the aroma.

I finally get to try the standard version very soon here. Pretty excited for that.

I'm lucky enough to have had a friend pick up six for me...dang, in 2014, before I joined here. It's a fantastic beer.

Same guy owes me a Pliny. Gave him a Pseudo Sue and a Furious for that one. I gotta get better at debt collection.

Sounds like you would've got the better end of that deal if you had collected.

PsuedoSue was so 'meh' it made me angry.

Furious is good, but I thought it was better a few years ago.

I shot him a pic of my beer mail and he offered. His BIL sends him a case a month. Maybe he missed a month. I've had a taster (okay a 8 oz. pour) at his place. It's a great beer. Want a whole one.

I liked Sue. Great pale ale. It's not ZD from what I've heard (you say about it), but I really liked it. Far from the best beer in that particular box, and definitely not TG's best beer at all. I dunno, I rank a lot of beers higher than most people would. I likes beer.

Not to mention the literal case of HB I've given him, much of which he claims to have liked.

I have a close friend who owes me beer. How would you guys go about asking him for beer?

I've never had ZD, but after brewing the clone and it being one of the best beers I've ever had... it probably ruined ZD and any other single-hopped Citra APAs for me for good.

If I hadn't brewed that beer, I might have thought PsuedoSue was great.

This thread moves fast. I can't keep up with you guys. Anyway vacation started today. Brew day done besides putting stuff away. Pulled some gravity samples and enjoying a unfiltered beer.

It moves fast because we're such good friends.

That's a dumper in my brewery. Also a funeral pyre for the bucket, and then I might stop brewing in that house. Because I burned it down.

*********, I just can't PKU. You people need to stop talking unless I'm killing time on HBT...

Bought my losing ticket, I think it's my first since like, 2003 or something. Hopefully I'll win at least enough for a pint. Drinking wild cider before club meeting. Chicken Ropa Vieja in the slow cooker since this morning, spells floccing amazing. I am very much going to enjoy not going to the floccing gym today.

I'm about to be off. Radio silence for 3.5 hours while I wrangle teen boys at church. That's a job that beer is made for, but for some reason it's frowned upon if I try to do it tipsy.
