I'll play along, need to burn through some beans so I can roast, must roast!
With my milk stout, how long did you wait?View attachment 327180View attachment 327181

So what am I missing here? So you add the beer and the beans to the French press, wait a few minutes, then proceed as normal with the press? Why not just make the coffee, then add to the beer and stir a little? Seems would keep better carbonation that way. Probably just missing something - this seems to be a thing.

Pretty much. The longer you let it sit, the stronger the flavor. Then plunge and enjoy.

Pro tip: add only half to 2/3 of the beer to the Randall then top up your glass. You can lose a lot of carbonation with the Randall, so that helps preserve some.

Should've read further before my last post. This makes sense.

Brett B Red. I'm very glad I decided to pop in two oz of Wakatu along with the ounce of Hallertau dry hops. The character fits perfectly.

Nightcap.

Checked gravity on my bad luck charm and it's gone from ~1.130 to ~1.050 in a week. Tasting pretty good too.

The verdict on Black Metal is in. OG wins by light years. Danish is 2nd. B17 is the best of the farmhouse variants I've had so far, but still a little too much licorice character for my tastes.

And me all the licorice stouts.

All of them

I went into this admitted bender thinking double stout was somehow less than. Nope. It's a helluva mid-bender sidetrack. Tastes like delicious, drinks like water. Add coffee or whiskey ir a smoked ham to it.? It'll taste like heaven with a beer back.

This one has a little bit of nothing. It warmed until the woman went to bed. 45 minutes?

Never been to vail actually. Just skied one day at keystone in route to new mexico. Just finished up two days at angel fire and a day at taos ski valley. Headed home tomorrow unfortunately. :(

My wife just asked me to please "turn that **** off!" Now I'll have to watch the last min and a half of Billy's aged beer review in the morning.

Seemed like the thing to do and tasted darn good the caffeine rush kept me going for a bit till I crashed;)

Hobbit toed band conductor?

What happened to the other thread? Is this like the other thread only for people who don't necessarily care about being on topic? If so that's a good idea. I've yet to meet a drinker with laser like focus on task. If this is just that thread again I'm awake and I'm off work so of course I'm drinking beer. This beer. It was better first time I had it.

Mornin' ya'all. Coffee after finally getting back off the wagon last night. Left the kids at the grand parents and went to one of the bigger breweries in Stockholm, ... Only to find out they are closed for the next few days. [emoji22]
Damn. Walked 45 min back to where we started and had a few beers.

Coffee with cream because I hate coffee. :p
Happy belated birthday @psylocide

Not belated, it's actually the 5th... Thanks though.

Just did the whole family thing last night. I was served meat on swords until I couldn't eat any more.

On a related, hilarious note, the waitress is going through the tap list and around the table. Seasonal is Tallgrass Vanilla Bean Buffalo sweat... Brother says 'you've brewed that one right?'

'Yeah I gave you a couple on Christmas.'

'That was good, I'll take that.'

Lady goes, 'you brewed this?'

Innocently I said, 'yeah... It was a good recipe, pretty spot on.'

She says, ' oh wow... Well, congrats, it's really good.'

S...M....H

I told my brother never to bring up brewing in public again. Morning all.

She's bragging about meeting the brewer from Tallgrass at meatswordtalk.com this morning.

Church is starting. Shhhhhhh

Hahaha! You're moving up in the world.

My birthday is the fifth, too. Capricorns unite!

Not drinking anything right now. And that's ok.

Sounds like an epic trip! But why would you leave the Colorado mountains to ski in taos? ;) The only place these guys go around here is alta Utah to ski tittypow. I've only been about 40 times but the vast majority were at vail. Its a gentle mountain but the back bowls are legendary for good reason.
