I know zero about sours. It seems good unintentional ones are like hens teeth (unless your H.W.).

Who knows what it will become.

That would be a dumber every day in my mind but what the flock do I know.

I'm only out a hour and some bottle caps. I'm going for it, it's done at this point anyway.

ETA: Beautiful pictures of the pellicle BTW

I know one thing about them.

They are bad.

German. Probably do something very similar to yours. Ive thusfar kept pretty minimal water profile on Pils due to AJ's suggestions, but going to try that yellow bitter profile out.

Was talking with Martin and he mentioned that the color + bitter/balanced/malty profiles in Bru'n water are more suited and applicable to ales. Just a thought.

..it's done at this point anyway.

If it's infected it isn't done. Those bugs are going to continue to munch away on stuff. Bottles kablammo!

They're not for me. That's all I know. Tried my best to try/enjoy them. Not happening for me unfortunately. A brett I could enjoy 5 gallons of . 5 gallons of sour, nopederp

Tell me you can at least drink while painting? I couldn't imagine painting without beer!

I probably could have. my wife drove up and back. my BIL was only 3 steps in putting their grill together and already had everything wrong. I took it all apart and put things right. he's only got a few steps left now.

Alright brewing folks I gots me a question. Anything wrong with doing a full volume mash with my DEM? Such a small grain bill in my 10 gallon cooler is just begging for it. Plus it might help it from loosing some temperature. Just a thought. Plus it'll save me some time and propane. Should I PM Owly?

Only thing wrong about it will be that you'll never want to sparge again.

I have debated changing from BIAB to a cooler and doing the same for the same reason and being able to get clearer run off into the kettle.

Eh, if it's already down to 1.002, might be fine in the bottles. Maybe gushers, but doubtful bombs.

Coming to a boil here. Got pretty lucky not burning the crap out of my arm just now. Had the bag in a strainer over the pot. Started pressing the bag a bit, strainer falls into pot. Much wort everywhere. Luckily not hot enough for serious burns. Pretty much still at mash temps. Maybe just first degree burns.

Relaxing with not much to do. Sun is starting to break though. Wish I could brew with this view.

Happy Saturday all.

Beautiful looking beach

Also wanted to ask (none of my business) about your avatar. Is it supposed to be a taurus from a nuclear fusion reactor? Looks like something like that. Just curious.

Good point on the bombs/gushers. Not much left to chew through I guess.

Ouch on the burn. Been there.

That's my thought. I'll prime a little short just to be certain.

It tastes to good to dump, believe it or not. Guess I'm tossing a fermenter though.

The pressure was unnecessary. :)

Congrats that it came through. Assuming it was what you told me about, it sounded awesome.

Urf, rough.

On the road to Austin and Jester King! Eta 1230ish.

Yep. Probably a little time yet before I could start but it has promise. Enjoy the vacation. Hopefully SWMBO let's you do some day drinking

Brew day done. Blonde Irish ale in the fermenter at 67f.

Feel like an idiot though. This was a brew session specifically to teach my neighbor to brew. Haven't done extract for awhile and I completely forgot I had steeping grains left in the kettle until 15 minutes into the boil. So dumb. Hope it doesn't totally ruin the batch but am preparing for some pretty strong tannins in this.

My crystal clear helles after moving the keg around.

A lesson in what not to do is still valuable. Haha.

How did the sample taste? Should be able to tell somewhat.
