Me too. (And I knew someone would start a thread about this, more than likely to deride the beer WITHOUT even giving it a try. I almost Pmmed you this morning about it.)

It's an amber lager, which is a rarity for a brewery to attempt it, macro OR micro, and if it's anything like the Batch 12 beers, it may be halfway decent.

I'll give ANY new beer a try, once, REGARDLESS of the brewery. Since I signed up for untaped in December of 2011 I've logged 222 DISTINCTIVE beers. Now not all of the were beers I never tried before, just the first time logging them, but I would say at least 80% of the beers were brand new to me.

Not everyone looks down their nose at announcements like this, OP.....ESPECIALLY when it's from a big brewery trying something different for once. And an amber is different.

I hadn't heard that....Interesting, they were decent beers. Not overly adjunct laden either.

It will be interesting to see the reaction from the BMC drinking crowd, like I said in the Batch 12 thread we had going on, to me they were all good beers. But I thought they were doomed to fail. They were too full bodied, hoppy (comparatively speaking) and full flavored compared to the straight up Bud/Bud light products, and would more than likely be ignored and hated by the craftbeer drinker on principle, so probably would eventually go the way of Bud American Ale, which was another half way decent offering by them.

Can't say that I will pay money to buy it, but I am sure someone at our block super bowl party will have it. I will try it, and I usually try to remain objective. If it is good, then so be it......

The Batch 12 beers were ok. Nothing great, but ok. If it's the LA made 91406 it won't be horrible and may actually start getting a few people to realize there is more to beer than water, unlike Platinum.

My true worry is AB-InBev will try to cheapen the recipe and it will suck.

I wasn't a huge fan of the Batch 12 project. They just seemed like Bud on steroids. A little better, but not by much.

Honestly though, I think what this will do is create more craft beer drinkers from long time BMC drinkers that didn't know there was something better. And the price point will allow for it too...

Not sure if the carry it out of State, but Colorado Native by Coors is a good amber lager. Also cool that it is made with all Colorado sourced ingredients. Defiantly a Good thing for one of the Big Guys to be doing.

@JeepDiver I've heard of the Colorado Native. But I don't think its distributed nationally. I know we don't get them here in Miami. And I do think that out of the all the "big boys" I do prefer MillerCoors' attempt at being more craft-like. Their Tenth and Blake division isn't exactly "real craft" but its not too far off...

They didn't have any cold behind the bar nor in the retail coolers. Brought a 12-pack home to chill. Maybe pics a bit later or tomorrow.

If you have tried all three in Project 12 box assortment you have (apparently) tried this Black Crown. The Black Crown bottle label and the carton both bear #91406.

Well, that's not too promising. The fact that it's a lager portends disappointment (was hoping for American Ale +). But I'll reserve judgement until it hits my lips.
