I've got a 5 gallon sanke keg and I'm toying with the idea of converting it into an e-kettle for 1-2 gallon eBIAB batches.

Has anyone used a small keg as a kettle before? Any issues I might run into with such a tall, narrow vessel?

Anything is possible but I do have to ask...why? I am assuming this is a sixtel which has the same tall, skinny profile as a corny keg of the same size, right? The ID is very small on these, a sixtel is about 6X as valuable as a $10 US 3-gallon SS pot you can get at any dollar store, etc.

I have no useful info to add except GO FOR IT, it will probably be great and you can then educate us on how to eBIAB IACK. electric brew in a bag in a converted keg.

You'll have to be more careful than usual boiling in a skinny vessel, as the hot break will climb higher, but it should be fine with fermcap and common sense. Cheers brew on.

A sixtel is a great and valuable serving keg, as said above to butcher it into a kettle makes no sense to me....much better inexpensive options available.

Return the sixtel for $50 deposit and move on if you have no use for it IMHO.
