One bottle was a little metallic with some muddled barrel flavor and dark fruit.

This was pretty much exactly my experience. Was expecting roasty bourbon chocolate milk like years past. Glad to know it's mostly just bottle variation and not a change in recipe or something.

I've had 3 bottles so far of '14 and all have been perfect, a little less barrel than last year but still very good.

I opened a BBPt5 '13 as part of a blind tasting 2 weeks ago with Black Note(1), BCBS 14(2) and BA Blackout(distant3), and sadly the BBPt5 '13 was dead last, we all called it out first as the worst of the 4 immediately(and I loved every '13 i had previously before then). Not sure if it's bottle variation or just not good with age.

Our next plan is to do a blind '13 from last release, '13 from this years release(black wax reg label), oppermans and tippins to see how/if they differ.

So it's my goal to drink all/most of my '14s within 10 months or less.

Have opened about 3-4 in the past week as well and they have all been very tasty. Also I enjoy the Rum barrel aged 4 Elf from this year much more than the Brandy barrel aged from last year.

Start handing out order forms/numbers on Frday the 11th at 6pm. Can hang around and party/bottle share Friday if you want. Otherwise, come Saturday for the party and get your bottles. Assuming there's a ton of BBPt5 again this year, should be able to just get an order form Saturday.

Who's in this year? I will probably grab a number Friday night but not hang around long. Here's hoping BBPlead is more consistent this year.

For those of you going on Friday, when do you plan on getting there and how long will you be around? My buddy and I will probably show up around 5:00, with plenty of treats to share, including some more elusive 'Gander brews (No Rules, Odd Side stuff, etc.) for interested out-of-towners. Happy to stick around for a while at DH after forms are handed out, but also intrigued by all of these tantalizing references to hotel shenanigans.

Don't have any insider information but I can think of two potential reasons:

1. Harder to get bourbon barrels in large quantities due to rising demand.
2. Future/"surprise" release of Aigre BBPt5 on Saturday. <Throws up>
