I'm having some issues keeping my temps up for a brew with this strain (Wyeast 3726 farmhouse ale). The basement is pretty cold right now and the aquarium heater/tub of water method isn't getting the job done enough. I was thinking it would be at least 75F with the heater. It is currently 71-72F.

Reason to worry? There are a couple of things I can try to do to raise the temp up. Main issue with messing with it is that I'm gone for a few days and SWMBO would have to mess with it. It's on the really low end of the Wyeast specs, and most say if anything to go really high 85+.

Anybody used this in the lower temp ranges? How'd it turn out?
 
I ran it on a split batch of 'Lime Saison' a couple months ago (with high 60s at most temps) and my girl loved it. It had a tad more funk than the 3711 side but it was very gateway Belgian. Given that she is not into my beers I've intentionally re-brewed that beer during winter. It comes out pretty clean at the lower temps. No problem finishing. It's no Dupont 3724/565.

So yeah, run it low and it'll be fine. You might be underwhelmed by its Saison-ness. Combo it with some Motueka, Palisade, & Citra late with some solid dry hopping and it works out very nicely. :)
 
This is one of my favourite strains.

The last batch I started at 68 and took it to 80 over a week. Was a fantastic beer. I wouldn't worry too much. Pretty tolerant strain. Attenuated to 1.008. Real nice

You'll get more pronounced saison/farm house flavours at higher temps though
 
I'd go with what the above posters are saying. I've used the 3724 but not the 3726.

In addition to what the above says, I used a heating pad underneath the carboy with the carboy wrapped in a big parka to keep it insulated. With the heating pad on medium it got me up to 90º exactly for the entire duration. YMMV
