(And I know I'm heartless, but there's something incredibly slapstick to me about an upturned SUV.)

But yeah, we had mudslides and ****.

One of the (many, many) differences between the CA and OR beer scene is that Oregon has a ton of amazing craft lager. Mostly pils (Heater Allen, pFriem, Upright, Commons, Buoy) but also lagers in general. California could use more than just Anchor (even though I love Anchor and I don't care what anyone says).

Faction, Fieldwork, Russian River, Firestone Walker, Highland Park, El Segundo, Three Weavers, Swog City, Bagby, Pizza Port, Noble Ale Works, Bottle Logic all make good to GABF medal winning lager.

Of all of those, Pivo is the only one I can get off the shelf reliably in northern California. And actually, not reliably, since Firestone is always old as ****.

Elements of Composition? Nothing on Instagram...is this like a club members email alert or secret locals only announcement?

I hate not knowing what you guys are talking about :(
I agree that it's kinda lame when people post about a release/allotments without details...

Here's the info for club members:

The California release of Elements of Composition is a private event that will be held at Sante Adairius in Capitola. Tickets will be sold for three (3) 2-hour session, beginning at 12pm and ending at 6pm (Session 1=12p-2p, Session 2=2p-4p, and Session 3=4p-6p).

Also, same deal on buying EoC bottles as at De Garde:

Your $10 ticket entitles you to one draft beer and the ability to buy a bottle of Elements of Composition to go (750ml/$28).

Really cool concept to do a private event like that. Just hard to make happen with a 12 day lead time and on a Monday. I feel like half of the members will actually be able to go. That or there will be a lot of sick days taken.

well to be fair, this thread is actually titled "2017 SARA Cellar thread", so it's really intended toward Cellar Club members. Although every year it turns into the all things SARA thread.

It looks like I'm going to fall into the unable to attend group, but the event itself is exciting. Maybe with the new space, things along those lines'll be more regular going forward.

Also, it surprises me a bit that 145 people can fit in the brewery without exceeding some fire marshal limits. Maybe the barrel room will be used too?

Nailed it!
Ha! Completely forgot about that.
And to answer anyone who may be wondering why they're doing it this way? Calling it a "private" event is the only way to do this legally. Since the beer was packaged at DeGarde it's probably considered a guest beer now so they can't sell it to the public.
