Morning all,

I'm working on building a float switch to turn on a sump pump, but will be using the same logic to build out a float switch for my mash tun sparge arm and I need some help locating a transformer.

I've searched ebay and can't find exactly what I want/am looking for.

I have the 2 wire stainless float switch from ebay; so I need to get 6-12vDC to run through the float switch to fire my relay that'll turn the pump on/off.

I've seen this: http://goo.gl/CV6m2I which would work obviously but I don't need it to be Din mounted, then I found this, a LED transformer, 10W DC, which again should work... http://goo.gl/pBfYzF but I'm not keen on waiting a month for it to arrive.

finally...i found a PCB mounted transformer but I'm not using a PCB Board, so could I just mount it upside down and call it a day?

What are others using?

Cheers

Is it just a transformer? or is it a power supply?

a Transformer would need a rectifier to convert AC to DC a filter capasitor would be nice to smooth out the DC

Could you not spec a AC coil relay, but still would need to confirm the float switch can take the 6-12VAC

I used an old PC power supply. They have 3.3V, 5V and 12V supply. I converted one to power the electric RV awning on our porch.

Sure i could use this but i'm looking for small, plus i still need 120v internally to power the relay.

nope its a dc only float switch, and i don't want to run 120v ac thru it

I ordered from this guy. He's in New Jersey, so it came a lot quicker than ordering the same one from China, which was worth a couple extra bucks to me.
