Hey, I know I will get bashed for this but tomorrow I am brewing a beer with an Est. OG of 1085, and I am not using a starter this go around.

I currently have 2 vials of WLP005 for this beer and was wondering if I should go get a third vial to be safe from under pitching? Thanks in advance.

Buy a 3rd vial, aerate like crazy and pitch.

Look into making a simple starter next time, all it takes is some wort and a jar. Much cheaper that way.

well, the good ole mr.malty says you will need 300 billion cells, so yes three vials would be ideal. I bet 2 would still make a good beer tho im not sure i would buy another one. Starters are very easy and can be ready to use in 24 hours why not make one for your brewday tomorrow?

I agree, I think they will both make a good beer either way. If I do two vials, I might get some more esters and fruitiness too it. I'm having trouble deciding which way I want to go.

Go get another vial, or let it go with 2 vials?

Help me decide! I'll give you information on what I am brewing. I am going to brew a Vanilla/Coconut Imperial Rum Porter.

Vanilla Beans/Oak Chips (soaked in rum) will be added in the secondary, and 1.75 cups of rum added at bottling.

What do you think? 2 or 3? :-|
