    DIY Interwoven "Rib-Cage" Immersion Chiller

I previously had a regular IC and moved to a counter flow after I moved to 20 gallon batches. After a year I knew I need to move back to the IC as the CFC was not effective in cooling 20 gallons. Thanks to this thread I was able to bring my cooling times down significantly. I used 50' of 3/8...

How/where do you store your Immersion Chiller?

I used to store it in a box that came with my 5 gallon carboy but found out that bugs were nesting in the cardboard. Need another idea. I store all my gear in the garage between brews. Thanks!

First run using counter flow chiller

Thanks for the responses. In Atlanta area the water is in the 50's. I was running the water and the march pump full blast and the wort was over 100. The exit water was lukewarm at best. I recirculated into the kettle until the wort was 70. Next time I will moderate wort flow so I can pump...

First run using counter flow chiller

I'm looking for advice on the most efficient way to use the chiller. With my old immersion chiller I had the cooling water running full blast. Do you moderate the water flow or just the wort flow?

Building a counter flow chiller in Atlanta

I'm repurposing my IC to build the CC. What is your recommendation on length of the coil? Should I get a 25 ft or 50 ft hose? Cutting off the ends of a 25 ft hose would only leave enough for about 23 ft for the actual coil. Do you think this is long enough? Thanks in advance.

What is a fair price for a keggle

I'm trying to price a keggle that has a brass ball valve, weldless bulkhead fitting with a SS nipple and SS pipe. The interior has a SS false bottom with a copper/brass 1/2 inch pipe compression fittings for easy disassembly. There is no lid or thermometer. What do you ink is a fair price?

    Cpvc manifold; first use

Did a search but could not find the answer. I built a cpvc manifold with hack saw cuts every 1/2 inch. Deburred the inside of the tube the best I could with a copper pipe. Other than taking off the upc stickers and washing with dish soap is there anything else I need to do before my...

How large of a MT do I need?

Thank you brew brothers! I'm going to look for a 100 qt cooler for my MT in case I ever do a higher gravity.

How large of a MT do I need?

I'll be moving to 20 gallon batches. How big of a cooler do I need to mash 48 pounds of grain using 1.25 quarts per pound for the initial mash?

DIY Counterflow Chiller - Jaded Cyclone Clone

Impressive build, that thing is a beast. I wonder if you reach maximum cooling potential before the wort runs the entire length. Could you get the same cooling with say 6 runs?

Stepping up my game- 20 gallon batches

Thanks, good to know I can still batch sparge. Was not looking forward to dial in fly sparging method. I currently use an IC but looking to supplement it with a counterflow chiller. There is a brewer on YouTube that fabricated a straight pipe CFC out of 10 foot sections of3/4 and 1/2 copper...

Stepping up my game- 20 gallon batches

My house brew is an American IPA that I brew in 10 gallon batches x2. My brew day takes about 8 hours from start to cleanup. Hoping to shave 3 hours by going to to 20 gallons. Keggle hlt, blue ice cube MT, and keggle BK. I currently batch sparge. For those who brew 20 gallon+ batches...

STC 1000 short temp probe wire

Thanks for all of the replies. I need to lengthen the wire as the location of the unit to the fermentor just barely makes the probe long enough. I will set a baseline temp with no extension and measure again with the extension to see if there is any change in the reading.

STC 1000 short temp probe wire

Tried searching but couldn't find an answer. The temp probe wire is very short, is it as simple as splicing the wire with a length of wire? I'm concerned that extending the wire could affect the temp reading. Any help would be appreciated.

The Homebrew Review: Barley Crusher Grain Mill

@NewDetroitBrewing I had the same issue with the rollers not catching. The manufacturer suggesting disassembly and lubricating the rollers. I disassembled and cleaned with a damp cloth and Qtips. I lubricated the rollers with graphite dust. One thing I will suggest is that when you rebolt the...
