Mini Fridge that needs a new thermostat

I know someone selling a Danby mini fridge that supposedly needs a new thermostat. The fridge is cheap and in great condition. Will a STC 1000 or an inkbird plugged into the fridge overide and easily resolve this bad thermostat issue?

    Jet burner questions

I kinda thought that those were the negatives of a jet burner, especially for the lower burner where I'll be boiling the wort. Thinking of welding on this burner in place of the jet burner: https://www.webstaurantstore.com/backyard-pro-outdoor-range-patio-stove-with-hose-guard/554BPHP17.html...

    Jet burner questions

I finally pulled out of the box my King Kooker cooking cart. http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200405761_200405761 It has a 60Kbtu banjo burner and a 105k jet burner. I've never used a jet burner for brewing. I have a 40qt Polar Ware kettle, 10 gal Tall Boy kettle from Northern...

Need suggestions for a non-hefe wheat beer

http://www.skotrat.com/skotrat/recipes/wheat/american/recipes/18.html I have made numerous batches of B52 over the past 20 years. Tweak the 6-row and wheat grain bill by reversing the numbers and you'll get to 40% wheat malt. Try to find and use 6-row. (It gives it a much better taste.)...

Cold crashand split or split all stirred up

I have a 2L starter of WYeast 3068 on the stir plate. I've built it up over the past 10 days, cold crashed drained the fermented wort at about day 5 and then added new wort and put back on the stir plate. I've got time to brew a dunkelweizen and a hefeweizen tomorrow. Should I just cold...

Using a variety of extracts in one recipe

When I started brewing 25 years ago, we really didn't know what was in Amber or Dark Extract. Now, They have Munich, Vienna, Rye, and even light extract with 30% flaked maize listed. I'm trying right now side by side comparisons of all extract with a steeping grain vs all grainortwo like a Dos...

    cleansing, sanitizing, etc.

B-Brite is a cleaner, not a sanitizer. You've had luck on your side that you've had no contamination in any of your batches. Bleach, Star San, and Idophor are about the only chemicals that are within the reach of a homebrewer and at a feasible price. Here is a good reference...

Decant a yeast starter from a stirplate

After 25 years of brewing and making yeast starters the way it was done 20+ years ago, I got a stir plate and I am AMAZED at what it does to get a starter going. I've built up to 1500mL of pitching small amounts of 1.040 OG wort into the starter. Can I take it off the stir plate, let it settle...

    Small All Grain Setup

Do you brew indoors on the stove right now? If so, All-Grain will basically move your brewing outside and need a propane burner. Craigslist is your friend, especially if you live in or are near a large city. To step up to all-grain (Besides a outdoor burner if you don't have one already.)...

BIAB, I crossed into the daek side

This is where my mind is going. Years ago, I thought that batch sparging over fly sparging was the next best thing to sliced bread. The clean up was just part of the day of brewing. Is there somethig less besides a mash tun that I have to clean? Of course, with my exile from brewing beer...

BIAB, I crossed into the daek side

I still can't wrap my arms around this BIAB mothod. I started brewing 25 years ago. Took about 10 years off from brewing beer. Started back with brewing beer recently. Besides the cleaning up, I don't understand the benefits. My mash tun... 10 gallon cooler with a false bottom cost me under...

    skinning a cheest freezer

I'm about to pick up a 41"x23"x35" freezer to turn into a keezer. I thought about skinning the exterior of the freezer with 3/16" beadboard oak paneling. I thought I read somewhere that sometimes that can act as an insulator to some chest freezer that vent heat through the exterior. I see no...
