    Where to Age

DFH120 IS meant to age, you have heard correctly. If you have a basement that isn't subject to tremendous day to day variations in temp then it is probably fine there. Stone recommends aging/ cellaring their beers (if that's what you're into) at 55 deg F or BELOW, fwiw. A beer will age...

    Collecting Culture from My Cats

The best part of this thread now is that I am getting cat food ads at the bottom of the page now ... I really think this is cool, and hope it turns out well for you

Accidental 4 month keg dry hop

Well done on the recovery and the brewing. I was thinking about something similar earlier watching videos on DFH website. They dry hop 120 for 30 days and age it another month on whole leaf. I think lots of home brew taboos are a result of process mistakes and not actually forbidden (secondary...

S#!T costumer service with Better Bottle

While it does sound as though customer service was unacceptable in this case, the bit about the flood is true. I have been unable to purchase BB for a while now at my LHBS and they were told by the manufacturer that their facility is down right now due to a flood so all of their parts may be...

    Dubchedford's Electric Brewery Build

Yup, I work for a systems integrator where I do mostly PLC/HMI programming and instrumentation, but we have a UL508 panel shop so I read you loud and clear on that. Wire duct also helps if you have access or the room for it but for small systems its not always necessary. The only other thing...

You are my hero for not having a rats nest inside your panel. Well done so far and good luck!

Experience with RS485, Modbus RTU - please help

Rivercity has you on the right track, and I'd also like to see the PID being used. Additionally, if you think polarity is an issue, reverse it, it's just two wires. Also, if you have the choice configure it for 8 bit DL, unless that's all the PID can do. Do you have modscan32? If you cant...

    My arduino fermentation temp controller

Hey Cody, thanks! The mega is just what I bought because it was not that much more than an uno. As I mentioned I will probably replace this one with an arduino uno and use the Mega for my next project. I wrote my own code, but it was incredibly simple. I got the "getting started with...

    My arduino fermentation temp controller

Because I just finished re-wiring it, and because everyone loves pictures. I did a simple one wire temp sensor and added a 2 channel sainsmart relay to an arduino Mega. I added the terminal blocks because I can't stand push pin connectors and put it all on din rail to keep it organized. I'm...

    First yeast starter

Foam is good. If you used one of the online pitch rate calculators you should be fine to refrigerate it once you get to the desired count. If you're brewing a high gravity beer I would probably just let it ride if you're brewing the beer this weekend.

    Gusher? (Foamer?)

The only place I was going with that is maybe some bottles got uneven amounts of sugar.

    Gusher? (Foamer?)

Did you bottle with bulk sugar or the individual tabs?

Corded Drill Question for Monster Mill

A 1/2" chuck will fit anything 1/2" or smaller so you would be fine.

    Frustrating hobby

The sentiment above is nice (and true) but I have a different perspective to offer. Seriously? You think spending a few Hours one day on a weekend using a kit beer and getting a sub par batch is a frustrating hobby? Try road cycling. I trained (along with many, many other amateurs) 11 months...

    Converting from PLC to Arduino

I have been doing a lot of research on Arduino controllers in the last couple of months. I am a systems integrator so work with PLC's professionally, but as others have said the cost is not justified for most PLC systems for a home brewery. The arduino is great for a homebrew setup, and even...
