    Removing paint from bottles?

    Anyone have an easy/cheap way to remove the paint that is screened onto bottles? I like to bottle in liquor bottles, usually removing labels, but a lot of brands are now screen printed with paints that seem to be tougher than the glass they're printed on. Any tips?     11 days? seems really fast...

    Started a cyser on 1-4-14 and today took a reading. Down below 1! OG was 1.16. Red star champagne yeast. Did the standard SNA and degassed three times. Sampled the sample, and there's a bit of sweetness left. Did I just make it to 20% abv in 11 days?

    making yeast energizer

    I was thinking of using the leftovers from a previous batch to make a yeast energizer cheap. Can I just boil it and then add it to a must?

    fermenting in a vacuum?

    Was thinking of trying an experiment. One 2 liter bottle fitted with an airlock, and one 2 liter bottle that is 2/3 full with the air squeezed out and the regular cap on, creating a small vacuum. Any thoughts from the scientists?

    Holiday Party Dishes

    Storing sanitizer

    I use a sanitizer named Sani-Sure, which I get free from work. The active ingredient is trichloromelamine, and the instructions say it provides chlorine at 125 ppm. If I keep it in an airtight bucket, how long will it remain effective?

    Three weeks ago, I started a sourdough starter with 2 cups water, 2 cups flour and a pinch each of Red Star Champagne, Red Star Montrachet, and Fleiscman's bread yeast. Been making awesome bread for a week now. Starting to smell sour now. Good stuff....
