    Carolina Malt House

I just reached out to Carolina Malt House (carolinamalt.com) in NC and they offer base malts at $1.00/lb in 50lb quantities, so basically $50/sack for 2-row, pils, munich, vienna, oats, etc. Their Carolina 2-row sounds like a Golden Promise, so that's a nice cost savings if you are close. I'm...

    Feedback on Chocolate Cherry Stout

Looking for feedback on this recipe. It's similar to something I did a few years ago (Double Chocolate Strawberry Cream Stout) which was ok. I'm always worried about too much crystal or roasted malts. 5 gallon batch OG - 1.060 IBU - 28.5 Color - 33 SRM Grain Bill: 7.5# - 2-row (~50% of bill)...

Bru N Water consistently 0.20 ph too high

Hey folks, looking for some advice to narrow the gap I'm getting when using Bru N Water with regards to pH. Yesterday is the latest example of a brew I did where Bru N Water predicted 5.5 and I got 5.3. At least it's predictable as far as reaching my target but it sure would be nice to see it...

Bowie Bottler - need replacement o-rings

Anyone remember this thing? I bought one years ago. I am now in need of some replacement gaskets for it and can't for the life of me remember the sizes it takes. Anyone know? It's supposed to have 4 o-rings on it...2 smaller than the other I believe.

RIS Water Adjustments - Bru N Water vs BeerSmith 3

Hey everyone, Just wanted to bounce this off some folks for opinion. I'm lining up a RIS brew in a couple weeks. I've been using BeerSmith since forever, most recently version 3 with the water tab. I've also got the full version of Bru N Water version 5.5. So I use both as well as EZ Water...

3 vessel propane complete system (Charlotte) - $2500

Selling my current rig so I can pay for the remaining pieces of my new build. Asking $2500 everything included. Local pickup only because shipping all of this would be a nightmare. I live about 30 minutes south of Charlotte, NC. I'm switching to electric so I won't be needing this setup in the...

    New Water Report

I just got the LaMotte BrewLab water test kit in the mail today and took it for a spin. Wow, what a difference from the water I had in PA. I'm still going to send off a sample to Ward Labs to see how close my results are. Na - 24.3 Ca - 4 Mg - 2.4 Sulfate - 0 Cl - 30 Total Hardness - 20...

South Carolina SC / NC (Charlotte Area)

Hey there! I didn't see a thread close to me, so thought I'd start one. I'm new to the area, just moved into Clover, SC a year ago which is about 20 minutes southwest of Charlotte, NC. Looking to see if there's anyone in the area. I left all my brew buddies up north lol.

Charlotte Area (Rock Hill, SC - Carolina Brew Supply) Grain Buy #1

New to the area, looking to buy a couple sacks of grain on the cheap. Are there any groups in the area? I participated in a couple of Philly ones before and they were great! The LHBS prices here for grains are high.

Looking to improve mash phase on new brew stand

Let me first say that these were the best purchases I made last year. I've really enjoyed my new kettles (Spike Brewing) and brew stand (Patriot Brew Systems). However, there is one annoying thing I'd like to try and resolve without going full automated. I'd like to get there one day, adding...

    Water Test - Ward Labs

For the fun of it, decided to get a Brewer's Test (W-5A) done of my water from Ward Laboratories, Inc. I'm wondering if I should do anything to my water prior to brewing to improve in this area. First thought was to attach a filter cartridge to my brew stand. But I'm completely green in this...

    Grain Storage

I've been storing my uncrushed grains in my cool dry basement in food safe us plastics buckets with sealed lids for the past few years without problem. I'm now moving my brew setup to the garage, and would like to store all my equipment, including grain mill out there. Think it's a good idea...
