    Broken Thermometer

When I am brewing with my buddy he always uses an instant read thermometer. I have the same one for smoking meat and they rock! But like he said for brewing you might want to make sure you have the splash proof one.

What kind of thermometer do you have. Or did you have should I say.

New guy brewing but very experienced in smoking.

Ha Ha I guess I should have worded my title a little better. I went back and fixed it a bit. Thanks for the warm welcome.

New guy brewing but very experienced in smoking.

I have lots of experience in smoking but I am a rookie when it comes to brewing. I can't wait to learn a ton from everyone on brewing and hopefully interact with you guys on how you smoke/BBQ. How much more can you ask for BBQ and beer?

    anyone smoking easter dinner?

I always brine my birds before I smoke them but you don't have to. Last Thanksgiving I smoked up 9 birds in my smoke house and everyone loved them. My family and I had a few and the rest were for people at work who wanted a bird smoked for them. I actually smoked them ahead of time and froze...

To force carb a keg does it have to be cold?

Thanks for the link. So will it hurt if I leave it hooked to the C02 for an extended period of time or do I need to carb it and then remove it from the C02 until I am ready to use it then either bottle it or chill and tap the keg?

    anyone smoking easter dinner?

If you are looking for a raw ham that isn't brined already you are way behind as they need to cure/brine for a long time before they are ready to smoke. But I have smoked several hams that you buy in the store and they are awesome. Slather with some mustard and your favorite rub and put it on...

To force carb a keg does it have to be cold?

If my basement is at around 65 degrees what PSI would I need to run roughly? I am thinking about hooking the keg to my C02 tank and letting it sit in the basement to carb up for a week/weeks or how ever long it may take. Can I let that keg sit hooked to C02 for weeks on end if I want or would it...

To force carb a keg does it have to be cold?

I seem to hear different opinions on this so I wanted to see what you guys had to say. If I am going to force carb a keg with C02 does the keg have to be cold while doing this or can it be sitting hooked to the CO2 tank at room temp? The reason I ask is I don't currently have a fridge for...

Trying to learn the different beer styles.

I am new to brewing in general but I have been trying lots of different styles of beers for the past several years and I know what I like once I taste it but if you tell me it's a Lager, Pilsner, etc. that really doesn't mean much to me and I want to learn the different styles so when I am...

Used Plastic Buckets as a Fermenter?

Good luck getting that smell out. My buddy picked up some cheap buckets to have around for storage or what ever and they were filled with BBQ sauce and you can't get that smell out.

New to brewing here in ND.

I am new to brewing and have only helped my buddy a few times but I am starting to really like it. I was turned onto this site by him and I plan on doing a lot of research so I can figure out what is going on. I can't wait to learn from you guys and start brewing on my own some day. On a...
