It sounds like you need to do some basic reading, mifht I suggest How To Brew, by John Palmer.

DME is also more "concentrated" than LME. In other words, 1 ounce of DME will give you more sugars than 1 ounce of LME.

LME is 20% water. So it is actually only 2.64 lbs of malt per 3.3 lb container. But adjusting for the price difference, (LME is usually cheaper)... its about a penny per pound in favor of LME.
