I can hear the can of worms slowly cracking open. There are too many variables in your post for a single answer.

How much yeast? A drop, a finger-width, billions?

What temperature? Room temp, fridge, freezer, cryogenically preserved?

The range of answers is from zero cells surviving to nearly all of them.

So what it boils down to...is yes, you should make a starter from it.
