yeast no fire

I put 1 gallon of black strap molasses, and 10 pounds of suger. Specific gravity is 1.12. Using distillers yeast. But it will not start, any ideas?

What are you making? Wash? Awful high gravity. Very low in nutrients. Probably cooked all the oxygen out dissolving the sugar and molasses.

Trying to do rum. How did it do what you said?

Are you planning on distilling said rum? Distilling isn't discussed here. There are other forums that do. Maybe they could help you out?

Ok making beer from sugar and molasses. Then later maybe something else.
