Hi!

I’ve never used rum in a stout and i’ve never used maple spirals so any recommendations what type of rum would go with maple?? Or should it be bourbon? Any other tips for a adjucts?

Thanks!

Need a bit more info. What is the recipe? Are you soaking the spirals in rum or is the rum an ingredient in the stout?

It’s going to be just a basic imperial stout 10%. I haven’t made the receipe yet.

The Plan was to soak them in rum before adding them into the beer. So does it matter what kind of a rum it is? Or is whiskey better with maple?

I have only done stouts with several whiskeys but never with rum.

Zaya rum. VERY vanilla. As I recall, rum purists "ding it" for it's intense vanilla aroma / flavor. I think that the vanilla would go well with maple and stout and would give the illusion of the sweetness that gets fermented out of maple syrup.. Hope this helps.
