Whooooooops! Apparently I was reading the wrong thread! My bad! :D Looking forward to Wednesday for a delivery! :mug:

What a tease!!

Came home to a huge fedex express box on my front porch.
Woooo!
Picked it up, only 1 pound?!?

STUPID Flat-rate "starter" package fedex sends you, filled with smaller flat rate boxes...

On a side note, cook county hasn't been above the teens in 3+ weeks with snow and negatives again this week.
Im still holding off, if you know who you are and dont want to wait. PM me.

Cheers guys!!

Saw that too, but that 3-30 is just going around the internet. The 30 was from last years storm so far no merit in it.

Watch, we will get 40 inches!

There's def a chance for 30...friend is a weatherman and there's a model or two that are showing the possibility.

The full name of the beer is Hey, Careful Man, There's a Beverage Here. Big Lebowski anyone?

And it's a great beer. Picked up 3 more last night.

Wow! Impressive! Some incredible beers in there!

Just finished the Black IPA, amazing. Subtle rye blended with the hops made it an easy drinking 7%.

Thanks! It took a little while to mellow out. For some reason I decided to use some citra for bittering (90min addition or something). Bad idea. Super harsh bitterness. But after that died down, I was real happy with the result. Glad you enjoyed it!

Glad everything made it safe! I was a little nervous with the temperatures but glad I shipped it when I did since there may be another snowpocalypse coming through... Hopefully you enjoy all of those as much as I have! Central Waters isn't consistently good with their stuff, but those 3 are all really solid. The other Breweries are just top notch all around.
I've never sent any homebrew to anyone on the forum, but I figured even if you don't care for the beer you can at least reuse the bottle.

Enjoy!

:off: Quick off topic question for you guys during the "down" time regarding an Imp Porter I just brewed:

I'm toying with the idea of adding vanilla/bourbon or vanilla/rum tinctures to it, but I'm not sure the best route to take.

1) split batch at bottling and add tincture to last half

2) bottle all as is and add tincture to glass to compare

3)???

Any thoughts?

If you were going that route, why not oak it, too? Soak some chips in both rum and bourbon separately, carboy them for a week to get the flavor from the oak and the booze added to them to really tie everything together.

Ah, I was typing fast and forgot, sorry. There's oak in the bourbon one currently as well, just added a few days ago. Began vanilla infusion about 2 months ago. Haven't actually done the rum tincture yet.

It's a pain in the a-- but I def recommend starting low and tasting as you add before bottling. Added some extra vanilla to the last sixer of my ba stout and it was wayyyyy too much. It'll fade over time so no big deal but be careful.
The bourbon and oak can be tricky too. I did 6oz of woodford reserve into 4oz of French oak and wish I did some more after having one recently. In the end it's all about if these are more for you or are you spreading the love to folks that aren't too adventurous.

With the rum, to really draw out the flavors, I would add some molasses, too. Most of that sugar (around 65% or so) would ferment out

It's for me and a few brewing buddies that can all actually appreciate them. I brewed it with a generous amount of piloncillo as well, and the hydro sample I took last night smelled STICKY, in an awesome way. Like, ST Creme Brulee sticky... I don't want to kill off the piloncillo as it was the inspiration for the beer to begin with, just wanted to add some depth and a pseudo barrel-aged character for science.

I would drink that for Science! :rockin:
