I think I like Rahr 2-row as a base malt for American ales. Opinions?

Yep, me too. I buy it in 55lb sacks. Plus it has a dinosaur on the bag.

Since I quit using kits, Rhar 2-row has made some nice ales and IPA's for me. However, it's the only base malt I've used. So I don't really have anything to compare too.

Perhaps I should try something else just to see.

Other than TF Golden Promise, Rahr has become one of my favorites, just received a 55lb sack of their Pale Ale malt, very excited to see how this one delivers as opposed to the 2-row version.. Dino pics included

Like the grain, don't use it very often but it does make some delicious brews

It's my go-to, mostly because I like the efficiency I get, but partly because I like dinosaurs. I wallpaper my garage/brewery with malt sacks.

I use it a lot but I almost always add 20% or so Marris Otter to bring out some biscuity goodness. Depending on the style I vary the percentage. I do the same thing with Pilsner malt for my lagers. Just finished a Helles Bock that was half Pilsner, 30% Maris, and 20% Munich. It still needs to lager for a while but it tasted great right out of the fermenter.

People here in HT have mentioned they’ve seen sacks of Rahr laying around at Treehouse as well..

I like it along with GP for NEIPAs.
