Since I quit using kits, Rhar 2-row has made some nice ales and IPA's for me. However, it's the only base malt I've used. So I don't really have anything to compare too.

Perhaps I should try something else just to see.
 
Other than TF Golden Promise, Rahr has become one of my favorites, just received a 55lb sack of their Pale Ale malt, very excited to see how this one delivers as opposed to the 2-row version.. Dino pics included

I use it a lot but I almost always add 20% or so Marris Otter to bring out some biscuity goodness. Depending on the style I vary the percentage. I do the same thing with Pilsner malt for my lagers. Just finished a Helles Bock that was half Pilsner, 30% Maris, and 20% Munich. It still needs to lager for a while but it tasted great right out of the fermenter.
 
I've been using it for a long while now. I first heard of Shaun Hill using it, and that's all I needed to know!
People here in HT have mentioned they’ve seen sacks of Rahr laying around at Treehouse as well..
