I was just curious if anyone uses a ported 6 gallon Better Bottle for primary fermentation, and if so, how difficult is it to clean? I'm concerned about the nooks and crannies and sanitation.

Thanks!!

Several here use them, and I've heard arguments on both sides of the "ported" question -- some say too hard to clean and not worth the trouble, others say they wouldn't do without the port.

I thought about moving to BBs when I moved and got rid of all my glass, but I decided bucket primaries was cheaper/easier. On those rare beers where I need to "secondary", I just do it in the corny keg.

See, I don't really mind a little cleaning, so it might not be a bad investment for me. The ease of use will probably make up for the extra cleaning, no?
