Hey HBT,

Doing some major cleaning/replacement on my kegging system. I am trying to replace my gas lines and got some Foxx Superflex PVC tubing that smells like plastic. I ordered some more tubing from another supplier it also smells like plastic.

I hate tubing in general, most beverage tubing I tried gave plastic aromas with beer sitting in the line for 10 mins except when I switched to Accuflex Bev-Seal Ultra Barrier Tubing, no plastic smell/flavor. I do not want to use Accuflex Bev-Seal for gas lines though..

Any ideas? Does it not matter as much for gas lines? The last thing I want is plastic aromas in my beer.

Interesting question about gas tubing contributing vinyl flavor to beer - and I don't really know the answer.

fwiw, I use Kuriyama "Kuri Tec ClearBraid 3150-RF" 1/4" ID tubing for all my gas lines mostly because I can see if beer ever backs into any of it and it stays fairly flexible in my keezer, not because it has all kinds of food safe ratings and the like. I actually have a foot long leftover sitting on my desk and it doesn't smell like anything...

Cheers!
